Kelsy Richelle's Birth Story |
My first two births were in a hospital but I didnt feel comfortable in there,
and wanted to have my third child, at home and have a water birth, with my
husband Ross. We bought a water tub, from a shop in the city near us which cost
a bit over $100. I had also bought lots of towels, and things for the birth. I
was a bit worried about having a home birth as I never had before and didnt know
anyone who had, had a home birth. Ihad my two children Adam (3) and Jesse (girl)
(1 and a half) present at my birth although I felt a bit uncomfortable as I
wasnt sure how they were feeling about watching it.
Well, my contractions began early in the morning at around one am. So, I got up
and just went into the lounge room to watch some tv and try and relax away from
everyone so I wouldnt wake them up. However I didnt rest for very long because
my contractions were coming every five- eight minutes, and were quite painful. I
woke up Ross, at around 2.30 am, and he said I should try and sleep before I had
to give birth. So I went to bed with three hot-packs underneath my on my back.
They felt pretty good against my sore back.

My name is Shannon, I am 25 years old this was my second baby- I also have a 6
year old daughter. With my first birth I had to have pitocin to augment (speed
up)my labor because it wasn't getting anywhere. This time my doctor was going to
go on vacation the day after my due date and asked if I wanted to be induced. I
refused- I wanted to go the least invasive route possible. I dont like drugs if
they are not necessary- your body knows what to do.
I spent most of this pregnancy looking up everything on the internet, reading up
on different birthing methods, reading birth stories and pregnancy magazines.
Since it was 6 years since my last baby I found tons of new things on labor and
delivery. I had no pain medication with my last baby and decided that this time
I wanted a more comfortable birth and decided to take the pain drugs whenever
possible! Hay, why not enjoy the experience a little? |

My name is Heidi, and my husband's name is Ray. We are both 30 years old.
When we were 23 years old we started trying for babies on our honeymoon. We
tried for only four months and got pregnant.
On January 9, 1999, we found out right off the bat we were having triplets. We
were very shocked but excited. It was an instafamily.
So when I was 24 weeks we found out it was two boys and a girl. We felt bad for
our little girl with the boys.
It was a very long, exhausting pregnancy. Everything health wise went
wonderfully.

I was a week overdue. My doctor scheduled my induction.
Day 1: We arrived at the hospital and the monitors showed that I was having
contractions but couldn't feel them. The nurse said, "They're pretty good size."
I couldn't feel anything so I looked at my husband like, "There's nothing to
this!" Then the nurse explained that they don't hurt until they are working
(making you dilate ? I was still at 0 centimeters dilated).
I got my first dose of Cytotec. Nothing happened. I got an IV in my left hand
for medication later if I needed them. I got my second dose that afternoon.
Nothing happened. I had a third dose that night with a plan to start Pitocin the
next day. Nothing happened except getting evacuated into the hallway twice for
tornadoes!

Baby Jazmine Stillborn at 40 Weeks |
I had a really great pregnancy. Very little morning sickness, none of the usual
discomforts you read about pregnancy. I was due November 19, 2005.
Like I said, everything was great. Even my doctor commented on how well
everything was going. I gained just the right weight, and the baby was keeping
up with her growth weeks.
I went past my due date, but no problem. They always allow you to go at least a
week over in your first pregnancy.

I met this boy at work who was 16 at the time. We used to hang out on break and
lunch and talk. We exchanged numbers, but never went any further then friends.
One Sunday afternoon at our lunch break from work we went to his house for a
football, which we never came back with. Well, that is when it all happened:
unprotected sex.
That Sunday coming back from lunch, something wasn't right. I felt like
different and realized that I believed that I was pregnant. I ignored it, but
the next month, October, when my period was supposed to come, it never did.

You Just Gave Birth to a Toddler! |
By Trish
According to my own calculations, I should have been due some time in late
August, but the ultrasounds showed that I was due September 14.
I delivered Emma on September 23, 2004. I kept complaining to everyone that it
really hurt every time she would move in utero in the month before her birth! I
would be in tears because she felt like she was still in my ribs, pushing on my
girlie bits and punching her fist right through my belly button, but the doctor
kept saying that it was all normal. I am 5 feet, 6 inches, and I was enormous!
